In our text it sates that, emphasis gives prominence to a design and is used to attract attention and conceptual impact. I feel that this photo shows emphasis in three different ways. The first emphasis is shown by isolation, which is when part of the design stands out from the rest of objects in the photo, almost as if it doesn't fit in. I feel that isolation is best shown by how the box separates each bottle, but the one with the red top is more isolated than the others because it stands out and is placed in the middle. The second emphasis is shown through placement, this emphasis is similar to isolation because the focal point is relatively in the middle. The importance of the piece is that the focal point attracts attention to the eye, and from the focal point it is as if the piece is expanded. The final emphasis is shown through contrast, however we do not see contrast through size or shape because the bottles appear to all be the same size. Yet there is a contrast in color, it appears that the piece is in black and white, except for the focal point which leads the eye directly to it.

Unity - GDS 108
This photo contains three of the six ways to create unity first is repetition, then proximity, and a little continuity. Repetition occurs when we use the same visual element more than once, clearly in this photo we see the repetitious use of stacking the slice starting from top to bottom. Repetition is also used with the shapes and color, each slice is approximately the same size, and then with the color you get a feel that different apples were used and yet the color remains red. Proximity is the distances between visual elements in a design, as you can see in the picture all of the slices are touching. This view that the apples are touching also allows for the viewer to notice that apple, although not in you physical hand, has weight. However with the weight when you move from the inside out viewers get a sense of tension because it seems as though the edges will topple over. Continuity is a fluid connection among compositional parts. I feel that this picture creates movement, almost seeming as if it is a spiral stair case starting from the bottom and working your way to the top. Finally as you move from the bottom to the top we find that the eye moves to what is the focal point, being the small round purple object that is perched on the top slice. Although you are able to understand what the slices create, that one purple object forces the viewers to think about its purpose, and the meaning of the entire peice.

Ad Blog - GDS 108
The image in this ad is very successful at showing what the company wants viewers to see, however the type is not as helpful as the image. Just from the image you get a sense of what is going on. When you look at the type you have to look at it for a second in order to understand it due to the way it is presented in the ad. First I notice that the people in the picture are enjoying themselves, and then I notice that he has a remote in his hand, which makes u think they are watching TV or a movie. The light on their face and shadows behind them also backs up that theory. Finally I will discuss the type to help understand what this piece is about.
I feel that the text could have been placed in a totally different way and that the break in the words was unnecessary and makes it harder to read. When I try to read it, I want to read the entire left side first and then read the group on the right, however you are suppose to just read it regularly from left to right. I understand what they were going for with the words around his head, as if he is thinking those words as he is watching the movie, but if the breaks in the text were in different places or if the type was just over his head it would be more successful.
